EPA says U.S. vehicle fleet set new record for fuel efficiency in 2018

Vehicles on U.S. roads averaged 25.1 mpg in real-world driving in 2018, an increase of 0.2 mpg. A group representing most major automakers said the report “demonstrates the market challenges that exist” and noted most automakers relied on credits to comply with 2018 requirements.
